I am — like many of you — watching an inordinate amount of streaming. Like some of you, i am hard of hearing. Fortunately for me, there are closed captions — except when they aren’t. Take for example, NETFLIX. I am watching their excellent new series, ANIMALS. And, at this moment, BIG CATS. this program has more voice over than most, but interestingly, THAT is not closed captions. So essentially most of the words are very hard to hear — for me, having turned the volume up to the max. And yet some 5 word sentences — stuck between the very long descriptions — those 5 words are printed on the screen — while the long descriptions are not. it seems weird to me that no one at NETFLIX ever looked at this situation and screamed WAIT A MINUTE!!!! And pointed out to the minions that they had left hard-of-hearing customers in the dark, so to speak.

I have more — much more — to say about closed captions. Will share those later.
